My Serger Made A Bang Noise and Stopped Serging What's Wrong?

(Lenore)

Question:

While serging, my machine made a bang noise and stopped sewing. Ultimately, I couldn't raise the needle or turn the wheel. What do you think is wrong?

Answer:

I think that this is something that needs to be diagnosed by a professional, I can't address a problem of that sort, since I'm not a repair person. If a serger is properly adjusted, meaning the proper tension is set, the serger is threaded properly, you are using the correct thread for the serger, the correct needle, and the upper and lower cutting blades aren't loose or dulled from cutting, then the serger will sew correctly. I wouldn't even hazard a guess as to what I think it is.
