Careers In Fashion Promotion

Fashion promotion involves the promotion of the fashion industry through visual and market research, the creation of promotional literature, trend analysis, color analysis, the use of computer graphics and photography. In addition, this category of careers involves the use of PR work, styling, buying, and fashion journalism to conduct promotional campaigns for various types of companies.



Graphic Designers:

Duties: Graphic designers plan, analyze, and create visual solutions. They develop the overall layout and production design for all sorts of publications to get the message across. They also produce promotional displays, packaging, and marketing brochures for various products and services.

Art Director:

Duties: Art directors play a major role in the development of a project by making decisions on the visual elements of the project. They also have the final input on the selection of models, art, props, colors and other elements. They also help to make sure that production artists produce and complete their tasks in a timely manner to the satisfaction of the creative director or client.

Layout Artist:

Duties: Layout artists are responsible for putting images and text into a pleasing format. The formats include brochures, flyers, books, booklets that go with CDs, posters and other formats.

Qualifications: These individuals must have such skills as creativity, communication and problem solving abilities. They must be able to communicate their ideas visually, verbally, and in writing. They must have an eye for detail as well. Due to changes in consumer tastes they must also be flexible and have the ability to adapt to new trends quickly. They must therefore be able to work independently and under pressure. They must have self-discipline and the ability to start projects independently, to budget their time wisely and to meet deadlines and production schedules.

Education: This career requires either an associate degree or a bachelor in graphic design.
